Sparkling Sangria

Hi friends!  Hope you all enjoyed your holiday week!  Jack spent an entire week at camp with my in-laws, so we had lots of time to hang out with friends and go out for dates.  It was wonderful.  But we sure were happy to see him come home.

We had a super fantastic pizza party at our house last Saturday.  For a fool-proof pizza dough recipe, we used the Artisan Bread in Five recipe.   I can’t recommend this book enough. . .we all made some incredibly awesome pizzas.

I mixed up a pitcher of Sangria to get the party started.  Sangria is such a fun and festive drink.  And dangerous at the same time, especially on a hot night. I used prosecco to add some carbonation, but white wine would work as well.  I mixed together all the ingredients except the prosecco ahead of time and stored the pitcher in the fridge until our guests arrived.

Sparkling Sangria

Recipe from Michael Chiarello Cooking Channel TV

1 cup brandy

1/2 cup Grand Marnier

1/4 cup granulated white sugar

1 orange, sliced

1 lime, sliced

1 lemon, sliced

1 pint raspberries

2 bottles of prosecco (or cava, white wine of your choice)

Directions:

In a large pitcher, stir the brandy, Grand Marnier, and sugar until sugar dissolves.  Add the sliced orange, lime, lemons, raspberries, and prosecco.  Drink is ready to be served immediately once prosecco is added.

A perfect summer drink!
